The Misconceptions and Realities of Digital Piracy

In the digital age, the term "piracy" often gets tossed around, especially among gamers, movie buffs, and music lovers. There's a common belief that if you don’t own something, it isn’t piracy. However, the reality is quite different, and understanding the nuances can help us navigate the complex world of digital content. Digital piracy touches many lives, from content creators to consumers, and impacts multiple industries. As more entertainment and software move online, conversations about piracy grow more relevant. People grapple with the ethical, economic, and legal implications of accessing content illegally. It's a topic that blends technology, law, and morality, sparking debates on fairness, support for creators, and the evolving digital landscape. This is partially due to the fact that businesses are trying to get every penny to satisfy wall street expectations of growth and profit. CEO salaries and potential bonuses based on profit/growth are beyond reason.

Hogwarts MMORPG

I don't post much on here, because frankly, no one reads or responds or cares about what i have to say. As some of you may know, I am a gamer, I play video games and i used to play tabletop games a lot, yes Dungeons and Dragons and others.

Anyways, as you may know, jk Rowlings of harry potter fame, has said some things in the past few years that some say are transphobic and IF you look hard enough, you can read transphobic sentiments in the books. I don't care if she is transphobic, i don't know her, and what she does is of no concern of mine because I am not influenced by her in any way shape or form.

There is a review of Hogwarts legacy, which is an open world video game set in the world of harry potter, that wired magazine gave a one out of ten score. The reviewer does not even start to talk about the game itself until just about halfway through the review. The first half is more of a refresher of what harry potter is and how the reviewer feels and felt back when they were a kid reading the books. The first sentence of the review says in part, "its real-world harms are impossible to ignore" This is a video game that does not exist in the real world, it's all code and algorithms and whatever else. A game review should be exactly like a book review, based on how the game./book flows, is it written well, and in a game, review are their bugs, does it look good as far as graphic's are concerned and others.

What should not matter in a game review are the views or politics of the person that created the world the game is based on. Rowlings had very little if anything to do with the game itself. Yet people feel its necessary to tie the two together. I've watched people play the game online, it does not look dated, it looks pretty good. And if it wasn't going to be 70 bucks for it, i would consider getting it myself.

Thats it, rant over. Thank you for your time reading this.
